Andreas Helm has been a recognized expert in real estate and private construction law for many years and advises domestic and foreign investors, industrial companies, project developers, banks, family offices and private individuals. One focus of his work is advising on complex real estate transactions (asset deals, share deals, forward deals, club deals, sale-and-lease-backs, portfolio transactions, etc.) in all asset classes and of all sizes. Andreas implements these with his transaction team in an efficient, goal-oriented and responsive manner. Together with the team he set up and leads, he has managed a total transaction volume of over € 10 billion in recent years. Clients also benefit from the firm’s strong public law team and the resulting synergy effects – in the case of acquisitions through strategic building law valuation and in the case of sales through the plausibility check and identification of development reserves.
He also focuses on advising on mezzanine financing and joint venture transactions for complex real estate projects. In commercial tenancy law, Andreas specializes in drafting and negotiating comprehensive commercial leases in all asset classes. Within the framework of project developments, Dr. Helm has been advising for many years as a Certified Building and Architectural Lawyer on the drafting and negotiation of planner and construction contracts (general contractor and developer contracts, GMP contracts as well as planner, project controller and project development contracts) and in providing advice during construction.
Andreas Helm studied law at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich from 1994-1999 and worked as a research assistant there in the Institute for Criminal Law from 2000-2002. In 2002, he obtained his doctorate in law under Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Claus-Wilhelm Canaris, was admitted to the bar in 2002 and was appointed as a Certified Private Building and Architectural Lawyer in 2010. He has been an equity partner at the law firm Wagensonner Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft mbB since 2006.
Andreas is a lecturer at the University of Regensburg (IREBS – International Real Estate Business School) for private building and architectural law, gives lectures and talks for immoebs e.V. on construction law and for the Real Estate Academy of the European Business School (ebs) on insolvency law in the real estate industry. Dr. Helm is the author and editor of numerous publications on real estate and construction law.
