WAGENSONNER ACADEMY

Your personal development is very important to us. That is why we have developed the Wagensonner Academy with a great deal of passion and commitment.

The Wagensonner Academy supports you in your personal development and offers you the opportunity to develop from an excellent lawyer to a comprehensive consultant. Wagensonner not only stands for excellent professional advice, but also for personalities with outstanding entrepreneurial and social skills. You will benefit from the partners of our law firm, keynote speakers from client circles and external trainers.

We want you to understand how our clients think, to think outside the box yourself and to constantly broaden your horizons. In our view, it is equally important to have an understanding of our clients’ business decisions and financial challenges as well as communication and negotiation skills.

The individual modules at a glance:

1. Individual “on the job” training

We attach great importance to involving you in client work right from the start – from day 1. You will quickly be given tasks that are directly related to client mandates. This allows you to gain experience quickly, expand your knowledge in a practical way and develop methodological skills. On-the-job training is supplemented by training as part of our Wagensonner mentoring program. From the start of your employment at Wagensonner, you will be supervised by a partner/mentor who will accompany your development on an ongoing basis.

2. Regular feedback meetings

Your partner/mentor will talk to you regularly about your personal development and your next training goals and career steps.

3. Seminars and training

Under the heading of business development and networking, we want to sharpen your individual market position and help you to advance your professional networking. The training courses take the form of workshops with our experienced external trainers in small groups.

Lectures on a wide range of specialist topics are held at regular Lunch & Learn events to expand legal and industry knowledge. There are also regular presentations on topics such as diversity, legal innovation, leadership and communication.

Through our cooperation with the IREBS International Real Estate Business School in Regensburg, you also have the opportunity to attend selected lectures on real estate-specific topics, such as real estate financing, project development or real estate valuation, and we also support certified lawyer courses and doctoral projects.

4. Specialist Jour Fixes

We consider a regular professional exchange within the team to be immensely important. Projects are simply a lot of fun in a team. Under the guidance of experienced partners, you will practice applying and presenting your knowledge convincingly using the right methods and skills. This keeps you on the ball professionally by discussing current rulings and decisions.

5. Ladies Lounge

It is important to us to create an environment in which women and men are equally able to develop their potential. Regular meetings serve to exchange experiences and promote networking.

In addition to these five modules, team spirit is very important to us, which is why we also hold regular events to strengthen our sense of unity. Examples: regular lunches together, traditional costume evenings or sundowners on the roof terrace when the weather is nice, excursions, summer parties, Christmas parties, theater visits, cooking events, etc.

Career paths

You can join us as part of your Legal clerkship, as a career starter or, of course, as part of a lateral entry as a lawyer with professional experience.

The possible development path after joining us as a young professional is as follows:

  • Associate: Assignment to a partner (mentor) who is responsible for your training and professional development in the firm. By working with other partners, you will get to know different specialist areas and working styles.
  • Inclusion on the letterhead: After six months at the latest, a decision will be made on your inclusion on the letterhead and the website.
  • Senior Associate As a rule, you will be named as Senior Associate two to three years after joining the firm. In this position, you will contribute your own ideas for business development activities, expand existing engagements and generate new ones. You will also take on responsibility in the team, for example by helping to train law clerks.
  • Salary Partner After a further two to three years, being named Salary Partner is usually a sign of increasing responsibility and expertise. As a Salary Partner, you will share in this success of and have a say in the firm.
  • (Senior) Counsel: From 1 January 2024, the firm will offer the opportunity to pursue an alternative career path to traditional equity partnership. As a rule, the prerequisite for being named as Counsel is having previously passed through the Salary Partner level. The career levels of Counsel and Senior Counsel are offered depending on professional experience and affiliation with the firm. A (Senior) Counsel at WAGENSONNER is an experienced, highly qualified lawyer who handles high-value and demanding engagements, but does not seek a classic equity partnership. Being admitted as (Senior) Counsel to the partnership remains possible.
  • Equity Partner: If a lawyer is aiming to become an equity partner directly, the decision on admission as an equity partner is usually made after 5 to 8 years with the firm. Variant career paths are of course possible for newcomers with professional experience.

Legal clerkship / internship

Our law clerks are fully involved in all processes from day one and thus get to know all levels of the firm through concrete project work.

We are always looking for trainee law clerks with excellent initial legal qualifications, ambition and commitment as well as an affinity for real estate law topics for the legal clerkship, elective clerkship or for work accompanying a legal clerkship.
If you also have a motivated and open-minded personality, we look forward to receiving your application today!
