Dr. Jan Fürbaß advises national and international clients on domestic and cross-border financing, financial restructuring, and real estate transactions in all asset classes.
A focus of his work is advising banks, financial institutions, debt funds, alternative lenders, private equity funds, institutional and private investors, and asset managers on national and international finance and, in particular, lending transactions in the areas of real estate finance, asset finance, acquisition finance, and the realization of collateral. His advice covers all aspects of financing law (design of the appropriate transaction/financing structure (senior/mezzanine structures, whole loan structures, bonds, convertible loans, etc.), legal implementation and negotiation of financing documentation, coordination of the transaction, etc.). In addition, Dr. Jan Fürbaß advises on investment law issues relating to the German Capital Investment Act (KAGB). Thanks to his many years of (international) experience on both the lender and borrower/sponsor side, he has an extensive track record in financial law advisory practice.
In addition, Dr. Jan Fürbaß advises companies in crisis situations, particularly in cross-border restructurings.
Another focus of his work is advising national and international investors, industrial companies, project developers, asset managers, and family offices on complex real estate transactions (asset deals, share deals, forward deals, club deals, sale-and-lease-back transactions, portfolio transactions, etc.). In addition, Dr. Jan Fürbaß advises on joint venture structures in connection with real estate projects.

Dr. Jan Fürbaß was admitted to the bar in 2018 and began his career at the international law firm Hogan Lovells International LLP in Munich and New York in the areas of financing, restructuring, and insolvency law.
In 2018, Dr. Jan Fürbaß successfully completed his training as a business mediator in Munich (MuCDR).
Dr. Jan Fürbaß received his doctorate in 2016 with a thesis on “Special-purpose investment funds – A plea for the creation of a genuine fund vehicle,” which was awarded the highest grade of summa cum laude. He is also the author of various other publications, particularly in the field of investment law.
